comment How to work on a program from any computer that is connected to the internet?
In your situation, I use DropBox. However, if relying on auto-synch like DropBox, make sure that your IDE is regularly saving files (automatic, by timer), or you will one day inevitability walk away from some unsaved code & start working on an older version at another location.

comment Blocking function call with asynchronous content
I have awarded this the answer as it does indeed answer the question as posted. However, I just realized that this is a C++11 feature and my company is frozen at C++03, so I have posted a new question to find another way to do it. Anyone who is interested can look at stackoverflow.com/questions/30477812/…

There is no correlation between applications (+1). Please see also updated question.

Service is not a library, just a function which the Applications can call.

comment What are the options for setting up a UNIX environment to learn C using Kernighan and Richie's The C Programming Language?
The lowest voted answer (+1) is the only one that actually addresses Unix :-(

Indeed they will. And I wholeheartedly concur with them. However, I have been given a requirement and I must either fulfil it or declare it impossible. Discussion is not possible in this case, but a statement that it is not possible might be. Preferably would be an indication of how to code this, or an alternative architecture which still meets the singe requirement of non-blockingness.

comment How would a new language look if it was designed from scratch to be easy to TDD?
But do you want to leave the tests in there? Would you leave them enabled for production code? Maybe they could be #ifdef'd out for C, otherwise we are looking at code-size/run-time hits.

comment How can I convince my boss that ANSI C is inadequate for our new project?
I don't understand why the boss would be the one to maintian your code. have you no fellow team members?

So, did you get sacked? Can your boss maintain the C# code himself?

comment How should I behave as a developer in a project that's headed for failure?
No matter how bad the previous team, 1.5 months before deadline is not a got time to replace them, with the resultant learning curve for the new team. If I were the manager, I would have left the project with the team ought to understand it.

comment What to do as a Dev when for years their team has lacked product innovation, not used project mgmt methodologies, and kept bad Software Dev practices?
Shore talks about his champion ("somebody I work with who has more clout than me and thinks along generally the same lines I do" -- to that I have to add "but isn't trying to change anything". Don't expect too much
